I believe that all individuals hold the key to their own happiness and possess the power to change their lives for the better… My greatest reward as a therapist is helping my clients explore ways to make the changes in their lives that will allow them to look forward to the future with hope. I believe that we all need someone to talk with who will really listen and accept us as we are, without judgment. I provide my clients with that warm, nonjudgmental environment—a safe place to explore the issues that may be preventing you from living the life you want. Sometimes we need guidance and support in evaluating a situation, understanding our needs, recognizing our thoughts, and identifying what needs to change. Developing healthy coping strategies and improving our overall mental health requires mindfulness in our present day life.
I hold a Master’s degree in Community Counseling and am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor.
I have been practicing psychotherapy and have a solid foundation in working with families and adolescents for over 10 years. I use a variety of approaches to help my clients, depending on individual needs. I approach counseling and psychotherapy from a nonjudgmental, empathetic, logical, person-centered perspective. Through a collaborative effort with the individual, couple, or family, I incorporate principles from behavioral, cognitive-behavioral, psycho-educational, and solution-focused modalities. Each treatment plan is highly tailored to the needs of the client.
My experience includes working with clients dealing with mood disorders, anxiety, self-harm syndrome, marital issues, divorce and single-parenting/parenting, addictions, grief, women’s issues, LGBT and transgender issues, among other challenges. Successful therapy starts with choosing a therapist whom you feel comfortable and develop a positive, good rapport with. A therapist’s gender, age, specialties, education, and experience are all factors that should be taken into consideration.
